How to make a print-ready sticker file
Whether you sell on Etsy or order from a sticker printer, the file decides how the sticker looks. Here is the simple process designers and print shops use.
Step 1 – Isolate the artwork
Remove the background so the printer can generate the cut line from the shape. A transparent PNG from the Remove background tool is perfect for die-cut stickers.
Step 2 – Make sure it is 300 DPI
A 3 × 3 in (7.6 cm) sticker needs 900 × 900 px; add 0.125 in bleed on each side. If your art is small, upscale it with AI first.
Step 3 – Vector when possible
Logos and lettering look best as vectors. Vectorize the design and export SVG or PDF; the cut line can then follow perfectly smooth curves.
Step 4 – Color mode and format
Most sticker services accept PNG in RGB and convert for you; offset or professional shops may ask for CMYK PDF or TIFF. Export both from the same result.
Step 5 – Final check
Zoom in on edges, confirm no stray pixels remain, and keep text at least 1/16 in from the cut line.
