RGB vs CMYK: which one should you use for printing?

Screens create color with light (RGB). Printers create color with ink (CMYK). Choosing the right one avoids colors that look different on paper.

When to use RGB

Use RGB for screens, websites, social media and most home inkjet printers, which convert colors automatically.

When to use CMYK

Use CMYK when a print shop asks for it, especially for offset printing. It shows you a closer idea of the colors the press can reproduce.

Formats that support CMYK

JPG, TIFF and PDF can be saved in CMYK. PNG, BMP and WEBP only support RGB.

How to export in CMYK

In any PixelEdit Pro tool, choose JPG, TIFF or PDF in the download panel and select CMYK. You can download the same result in RGB too, at no extra credit.
